Monali Thakur made her acting debut appearing in the Bengali movie ‘Krishnakanter Will’ in 2007 which she played the role of Bhramar. The actress made her Hindi debut film ‘Lakshmi’ in 2014 which she played the lead role of Lakshmi. Monali played the guest role in the Bollywood comedy-drama film ‘PK’ in 2014. In 2017, the actress appeared in the Hindi-language musical drama film ‘Secret Superstar’.
In 2006, Monali participated the Hindi television show ‘Indian Idol Season 2’ on Sony TV which she gained 9th place. Then she worked as a Judge in the show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bangla’ along with Sadhna Sargam, Shantanu Moitra, Babul Supriyo, Kumar Sanu, Haimanti Sukla aired on Zee Bangla. The actress played the guest’s role in the Hindi comedy show ‘Comedy Nights Live on Colors TV. In 2020, Monali worked as a Judge on the Star Jalsa music competition series ‘Super Singer’.
As a singer, Monali Thakur made her singing debut with the Bengali song “Sundar Kato Sundar” from the film ‘Sajoni Aamar Sohag’ in 2000. The singer made her Hindi debut song “Kubool Kar Le” for the film ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ in 2006. In 2015, Monali sang the song “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage” for that she won the national Film Awards, International Indian Film Academy Awards, and Star Guild Awards. The actress made her Tamil debut song “Yaro Yaro” for the film ‘Madha Yaanai Koottam’ in 2013. Monali also sang in the Kannada language song “Soojiga Nanava” in 2017.
