Iga Swiatek was born in Warsaw, Poland to parents Dorota and Tomasz Swiatek. Her father, Tomasz is a former rower. Tomasz competed in the men’s quadruple sculls events. Swiatek’s mother is a doctor. She was raised in her hometown with an older sister named Agata.
Her father wanted his daughters to become athletes. From her childhood, she spent most of her time playing, practicing, and participating in several sports competitions.
Iga Swiatek Career
The 19 years old tennis player Swiatek began her career journey in sports by competing in ITF Junior Circuit. She made her Grand Slam debut in 2016 and reached the quarterfinals there. After Grand Slam, she finished her junior career and started to be a regular in ITF Women’s Circuit. There Swiatek defeated Mariana Duque-Mariño and the top seed.
She was qualified in the Australian Open for the first WTA main draw. Her incredible shots were named WTA Shot of the Year in 2019. At the Canadian Open for women, she defeated Shelby Rogers, Heather Watson, and Ajla Tomljanovic in the women’s singles.
Later she won against Donna Vekic in Qatar Total Open. The amazing player won the 2020 French Open in the women’s singles by defeating Marketa Vondrousova, Su-Wei Hsieh, Eugenie Bouchard, Simona Halep, Martina Trevisan, Nadia Podoro, and Sofia Kenin.
